Our Surgical PCU is a fast‑paced 24‑private‑bed PCU/IMCU unit that cares for a wide variety of adult and geriatric medical and surgical patients. The unit is certified and trained to take stable vented patients awaiting long‑term care placement. As a Surgical PCU RN you will have ample opportunities to build a wide variety of skills, including management of insulin drips, heparin drips, non‑titratable cardiac drips, wound care, enteral care, ostomy care, tracheostomy care, management of multiple types of drains, and Foley management and education.
Our MOSU PCU team provides many opportunities for education, process/quality improvement, and inter‑professional collaboration in a challenging, fast‑paced, and team‑oriented environment.
Full‑time: 36 hours per week, 3 12‑hour shifts
Day Shift: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM
Must be available to work holidays/weekends.
Enjoy a flat rate $3/hour weekend shift differential and an 18%-night shift differential, where applicable.

POSITION SUMMARYThis position assesses, plans, implements, evaluates, and documents nursing care of patients in accordance with organizational policies and standards of professional nursing practice utilizing the framework for professional nursing practice and development. The position is accountable for the quality of nursing services delivered by self or others under their direction. It utilizes specialized knowledge, judgment, and nursing skills necessary to assess data and plan, provide, and evaluate care appropriate to the physical and developmental age of assigned patients.
COREFUNCTIONS
Assesses patient physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural, and discharge planning needs. Reviews patient history and physical with patient/family and assures completion within appropriate timeframe. Reviews available information obtained by other health care team members. Reviews diagnostics and laboratory data and reports abnormal results to the physician(s) and other appropriate caregivers. Completes assessment and reassessments according to patient need and policy.
Formulates a plan of care, including the discharge plan, utilizing assessment data and patient, family, and health team input. Initiates a plan of care based on patient‑specific needs, assessment data, and the medical plan of care. Goals are realistic, measurable, and developed in conjunction with the patient/family. Considers the physical, cultural, psychosocial, spiritual, age‑specific, and educational needs of the patient in the plan.
Plans care in collaboration with multidisciplinary team members. Reviews and revises the plan of care to reflect changing patient needs based on patient status evaluation.
Implements the plan of care through direct patient care, coordination, delegation, and supervision of the activities of the health care team. Provides care based on physician orders and the nursing plan of care, in compliance with policies, procedures, standards of care, and regulatory agency requirements. Delegates appropriately and provides nursing supervision in the provision of care by other licensed nurses and personnel.
Promotes continuity of care by accurately and completely communicating patient status to other caregivers.
Evaluates patient and family response to care and teaching, revises plan of care as needed. Evaluates patient progress toward goals and expected outcomes in collaboration with the health care team. Evaluates patient response and effectiveness of teaching.
Documents assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation in the patient record. Documentation is legible, timely, and in accordance with policy. It reflects objective/subjective data, nursing interventions, and patient response to treatment. Notes physician orders accurately and timely.
