The Infection Control/Nurse Educator is a registered professional nurse who will facilitate orientation for all new staff, focusing on nurses in the classroom setting during the last half of orientation, teaching and assessing many competencies and passing new staff off to preceptors who will oversee the completion of the orientation competencies. The role assists with formulation and implementation of training in areas identified as requiring follow‑up and/or refresher education, including but not limited to multi‑cultural awareness and a diversity sensitivity curriculum.
The educator evaluates patient care through collaborative efforts with the healthcare team in accordance with the nursing process and standards of care and practice, addressing assessed needs with education programs when appropriate. The educator oversees online education and training, uploads required education monthly for staff to complete, and provides professional supervision for Behavioral Health Technicians (BHTs) and RNs with less than one year of psychiatric experience.
This position is responsible for identifying, investigating, monitoring, and reporting healthcare‑associated infections. The role collaborates with teams and individuals to create infection prevention strategies, provide feedback, and sustain infection prevention efforts.

- Master’s degree in a related field.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in a similar position, preferably in a behavioral health setting.
- Certified in infection control and epidemiology.
- Registered Nurse license in Arizona.
