Emergency Department Registered Nurse – Day Shift
Location:
Tucson, Arizona. Department:
Emergency Centre, Hospital.
Shift: Day (7am–7:30pm) with full‑time opportunities (3–12hr shifts per week). Flexible self‑scheduling is available, and a flat rate $3 per hour weekend shift differential is paid.
The Emergency Department is an 80‑bed Level1 Adult Trauma Center, also a comprehensive stroke, cancer and cardiac center. It serves all ages and includes a dedicated pediatric Emergency Department that is a Level2 Pediatric Trauma Center.
Responsibilities- Assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and document nursing care of patients in accordance with organizational policies, nursing practice standards, and the nominated framework for professional nursing practice.
- Evaluate patient physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, and cultural needs, extending to discharge planning.
- Formulate and adapt plan(s) of care, incorporating assessment data and patient/family input; review and revise plans as patient status changes.
- Provide direct patient care, coordinate, delegate, and supervise health‑care team activities, and communicate status to other caregivers.
- Monitor and evaluate patient and family response to care and teaching, revising the plan of care accordingly.
- Maintain legible, timely documentation in the patient record, including objective/subjective data, interventions, and responses.
- Use evidence‑based practice; participate in research, unit or facility shared leadership, and the education, orientation, and precepting of personnel, students, families, and visitors.
- Participate in activities that improve nursing quality indicators and outcomes, such as professional organizations and patient safety initiatives.
- Supervise staff and workflow in the department, when required, and interact with staff across all levels, departments and external contacts.
- Current, valid RN license in the state of practice (or temporary/interim or compact RN license). BLS certification is required.
- Experience in the ED or comparable acute care setting desired. One year of acute care experience in the past 12months as an RN for Registry or Travel acute‑care positions is required for those roles.
- Ability to maintain clinical performance competencies through annual validations.
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing.
- Professional certification.
- Additional related education and/or experience.
