Hours: Full-time: 36 hours per week, 3 12‑Hour Shifts (Night Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)

Availability: Must be available to work holidays and weekends. Enjoy a flat rate $3/hour weekend shift differential and an 18%‑night shift differential, where applicable.

POSITION SUMMARY

This position assesses, plans, implements, evaluates, and documents nursing care of patients in accordance with organizational policies and standards of professional nursing practice. The RN is accountable for the quality of nursing services delivered by self or others who are under their direction.

CORE FUNCTIONS

Assesses patient physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural, and discharge planning needs; reviews history and physical, diagnostics, and laboratory data; reports abnormal results to physicians; completes assessments and reassessments as outlined in policy.

Formulates a plan of care—including discharge plan—using assessment data and patient/family input; ensures goals are realistic, measurable, and developed in conjunction with patient/family; collaborates with multidisciplinary team.

Implements the plan of care through direct patient care, coordination, delegation, and supervision of healthcare team activities; provides care based on physician orders and nursing plan; ensures compliance with policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

Evaluates patient and family response to care and teaching; revises plan of care as needed; measures progress toward goals and expected outcomes.

Documents assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation in the patient record; ensures documentation is legible, timely, and adheres to policy.

Provides care based on best evidence; may participate in research activities within clinical practice; engages in unit or facility shared leadership; participates in education, orientation, and mentoring of staff and patients as appropriate.

Contributes to society through activities that improve patient outcomes, such as participation in professional organizations and quality indicator initiatives.

In some roles, supervises staff and workflow of the department.

Interacts with all levels of staff, including physicians, patients, families, and external contacts; works with clergy for spiritual support; synthesizes and prioritizes data from multiple sources to support patient and family response to changes in health status.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Must possess a current, valid RN license in the state of practice (or a temporary/interim/compact RN license). BLS certification is required. Experience in the abdominal transplant/surgical oncology acute care setting is desired, with a minimum of 12 months of recent RN experience in the specialty area. Minimum 1 year of acute care nursing experience required for Registry and Travel positions.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree preferred. Professional certification preferred. Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
