Banner University Medical Center Tucson (may float to South Tucson)
Compensation: $3.00/hour float pay, 18% night shift differential, flat $3.00/hour weekend differential.

Position Summary

As a SWAT RN (Specialized Workforce and Transport), you provide clinical expertise in emergency response, rapid response, Code Blue, and patient transport across multiple units (Adult ICU, PICU, NICU, WIS). You assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and document nursing care, ensuring high-quality service for patients and their families while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.

Core Functions
  • Assess patients’ physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural, and discharge planning needs; review history, diagnostics, and lab data; report abnormal results.
  • Formulate a patient‑specific plan of care, including discharge planning, and adapt goals in collaboration with patients, families, and the health team.
  • Implement the plan of care by providing direct care, coordinating, delegating, and supervising other providers; communicate status accurately to other caregivers.
  • Evaluate patients’ and families’ responses to care and education; revise plan as needed and monitor progress toward goals.
  • Document assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation in the patient record within policy timelines.
  • Use best evidence and participate in research, shared leadership, and educational activities such as precepting and mentoring.
  • Contribute to excellent patient outcomes by participating in quality improvement and professional organizations.
  • In some roles, supervise staff and departmental workflow.
  • Interact with all levels of staff, patients, families, and external contacts—including other healthcare providers, community agencies, and clergy—to support comprehensive care.
  • Minimum Qualifications
    • Current, valid RN license in the state of practice, or a temporary/interim RN license or compact RN licensure.
    • BLS certification required.
    • One year of experience in an acute care hospital setting (within the past 12 months) – or one year in a physician practice or acute care for Registry/Travel positions.
    • For Home Health, valid driver’s license, personal vehicle, and active auto insurance.
    • Behavioral Health positions require an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card and an Arizona Criminal History Affidavit.
    • Must maintain clinical performance competencies through annual validations.
    Preferred Qualifications
    • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.
    • Professional certifications relevant to the specialty area.
    • Additional related education and/or experience.
