Position Information

Location:

Tucson, Arizona

Department:
Perianesthesia – Hosp

Shift: Varied (start times 7 AM–9 AM, weekday Monday‑Friday, weekend and holiday on‑call required)

Employment Type:

Full‑time, 36 hours per week (options 3–12‑hour shifts)

Sign‑on bonus: $10,000 for qualifying experienced Pre‑op/PACU RN candidates

Job Summary

As a PRE‑OP PACU RN, you will plan, direct, organize, coordinate and implement nursing care for pre‑operative and post‑operative patients, monitoring vitals, managing pain and nausea, and ensuring quality and safety.

Position Summary:

This position assesses, plans, implements, evaluates and documents nursing care in accordance with policies and professional standards, ensuring quality care and patient safety.

Responsibilities
  • Assess patient physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural and discharge planning needs; review patient history and diagnostics; report abnormal findings; complete assessments and reassessments.
  • Formulate a plan of care, including discharge plan; set realistic, measurable goals; consider patient context; collaborate with multidisciplinary team; update plan based on patient status.
  • Implement the plan through direct care, coordination, delegation and supervision; ensure compliance with policies, standards and regulations; delegate appropriately; provide nursing supervision.
  • Evaluate patient and family response to care and teaching; revise plan as needed; assess progress to goals.
  • Document assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation in patient record; ensure legibility, timeliness and accuracy; record physician orders.
  • Provide evidence‑based care and participate in research; contribute to unit leadership; mentor others when appropriate.
  • Contribute to society through activities that improve outcomes; participate in quality improvement, national indicators and professional organizations.
  • Supervise staff and workflow when required.
  • Interact with all levels of staff, physicians, patients, families, external contacts, and clergy to provide spiritual support and coordinate care.
  • Minimum Qualifications

    Valid RN license in the state of practice (or temporary/interim/compact). BLS certification required.

    Previous clinical experience in an acute care setting within the past 12 months as a Registered Nurse in the specialty area.

    Additional certification or continuing education may be required based on area of practice.

    Fingerprint clearance card required for certain locations (detailed per facility).

    Preferred Qualifications

    Bachelor’s degree and professional certification preferred. Additional related education and experience valued.
