The Pediatric Oncology, Bone Marrow Transplant unit is a full‑time night shift position at Banner University Medical Center – Tucson. Nurses provide inpatient care to pediatric and young adult patients with hematologic, oncologic, and other blood‑related disorders. Responsibilities include medical management, chemotherapy administration, and care before and after hematopoietic cellular therapies such as CAR‑T cell infusion and bone marrow transplant.
Qualified candidates must have prior RN pediatric oncology and hematology experience as well as APHON certification.
This position offers a full‑time night shift (7:00 PM‑7:30 AM) with self‑scheduling for shift and weekend coverage. Pay includes an 18% night shift differential and a flat $3 per hour weekend shift differential.

Position SummaryThis nurse assesses, plans, implements, evaluates, and documents nursing care in line with organizational policies and professional nursing standards. The role ensures high‑quality nursing services and applies specialized knowledge to meet the developmental and physical needs of each patient.
Core FunctionsAssess physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural, and discharge needs. Review patient history, physicals, team input, diagnostics, and laboratory data. Report abnormal results to the physician(s) and update care plans accordingly.
Formulate individualized care plans, including discharge, based on assessment data and collaborative input from the patient, family, and health team. Set realistic, measurable goals and revise plans as patient status changes.
Implement the care plan through direct patient care, coordination, delegation, and supervision of the health care team. Provide nursing care in compliance with policies, standards of care, and regulatory requirements.
Evaluate patient and family responses to care and education; adjust the plan of care as needed to achieve goals and outcomes.
Document assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation in the patient record. Ensure documentation is legible, timely, and reflects objective and subjective data, interventions, and patient responses.
Provide evidence‑based care and may participate in clinical research. Support unit leadership, staff education, and orientation of new personnel, students, families, and visitors.
Contribute to patient outcomes through efficient, equitable, and safe care. Engage in professional organizations and quality improvement activities.
In some roles, supervise staff and departmental workflow.
- Current, valid RN license in the state of practice (or temporary/interim or compact license).
- BLS certification.
- Prior RN experience in pediatric oncology and hematology.
- APHON certification.
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing or related field.
- Professional certification in oncology or hematology.
- Additional related education or experience.
