Registered Nurse RN Oncology Ambulatory Clinic – Banner Health

Location: Tucson, AZ

Position Summary

Provide nursing care for outpatient oncology patients, coordinating treatment, triaging patient communications, entering orders, managing documentation, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

Assess patient physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural and discharge planning needs. Review patient history, diagnostics, and laboratory data. Report abnormal results to physician and other caregivers.

Formulate and modify patient‑specific care plans and discharge plans, setting realistic and measurable goals in collaboration with patient/family and health team.

Implement care plans, coordinate and delegate healthcare team activities. Supervise other licensed nurses and personnel. Communicate patient status to caregivers.

Evaluate patient and family response to care, teaching, and revise care plans as needed.

Document assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation in patient records promptly and accurately.

Provide evidence‑based care; participate in research, unit leadership, education and mentorship.

Contribute to quality improvement and professional organizations; promote patient outcomes.

May supervise staff and workflow in the department.

Interact with all staff levels, external contacts, clergy for spiritual support; synthesize information for patient care.

Minimum Qualifications

• Current, valid RN license in the state of practice (RCN, temporary/interim, or compact) and BLS certification.

• Clinical competency in the oncology and ambulatory setting.

Experience:

at least one year in an acute care hospital setting within past 12 months or in a physician practice or acute care setting.

• Additional certifications or continuing education as required for the specialty.

• For home health positions: valid driver’s license and active auto insurance.

• Fingerprint clearance card and criminal history affidavit requirements apply to behavioral and other specified roles.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in nursing or related field.

• Professional nursing certification.

• Additional related education or experience.
