Position Summary

As the PRE‑OP PACU RN, you will plan, direct, organize, coordinate, and implement nursing care services for pre‑op and post‑surgical patients in pre‑op holding and post‑anesthesia care units. Responsibilities include monitoring vital signs, managing pain and nausea, and providing comprehensive care consistent with Banner’s mission.

Core Functions
  • Assess patient, family, and health team needs; review medical history, diagnostics; report abnormal results; document assessments.
  • Formulate a plan of care and discharge plan based on assessment data and patient goals; integrate cultural, psychosocial, and educational considerations.
  • Implement the plan of care through direct patient care, coordination, delegation, and supervision of the health care team in compliance with policies and regulations.
  • Evaluate patient and family response to care and teaching; revise the plan of care as necessary; assess progress toward goals.
  • Document assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation in the patient record; ensure legibility, timeliness, and policy compliance.
  • Provide evidence‑based care; participate in research activities; contribute to unit or facility shared leadership; mentor and precept staff when appropriate.
  • Contribute to society through activities that enhance patient outcomes and participate in improvement of national nursing quality indicators and outcomes.
  • In some roles, supervise staff and workflow of the department.
  • Interact with all levels of staff, physicians, patients, families, and external contacts; coordinate with other health‑care providers and support spiritual needs.
  • Shift Details

    Employment Type:

    Full‑time
    Hours per week: 36

    Shift: varied start times from 7‑9 AM, Monday‑Friday
    On‑call:
    Yes, weekend and holiday rotations required
    Flat rate $5/hr for call, $3/hour weekend shift differential, and 18% night shift differential (when applicable).

    Minimum Qualifications
    • Current, valid RN license in state of practice, or temporary/interim RN license for the state.
    • BLS certification required.
    • Experience in an acute‑care hospital setting within the past 12 months as a Registered Nurse.
    • For Banner Registry and Travel acute‑care positions, at least one year of experience in an acute‑care setting.
    • For Banner Registry and Travel physician‑practice positions, at least one year of experience as an RN in a physician practice or acute‑care setting.
    • Fingerprint Clearance Card as required by specific Banner facilities.
    Preferred Qualifications
    • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
    • Professional certification preferred.
    • Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
