Position OverviewA healthcare organization is seeking an experienced nursing leader to oversee inpatient Medical‑Surgical and Telemetry services. This position partners closely with executive nursing leadership to support the delivery of high‑quality patient care, operational excellence, staff development, and effective resource management across multiple clinical units. The Director of Nursing maintains accountability for assigned departments on a 24/7 basis and plays a key role in advancing patient safety, clinical quality, staff competency, and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities- Provide leadership and operational oversight for assigned inpatient nursing departments.
- Collaborate with executive nursing leadership on strategic planning, clinical initiatives, and performance improvement efforts.
- Support the development, implementation, and evaluation of nursing practice standards.
- Ensure delivery of safe, effective, and patient‑centered care.
- Monitor staffing, productivity, and resource utilization to support departmental goals.
- Foster employee engagement, professional development, and clinical competency among nursing staff.
- Promote compliance with organizational policies, accreditation standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Lead quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.
- Serve as a mentor and professional role model for nursing personnel.
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
- Associate degree in Nursing plus a Bachelor's degree in a healthcare‑related field, or a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- Minimum of two (2) years of progressive leadership experience in a hospital setting, such as Nurse Manager, Charge Nurse, or a comparable leadership role.
- Current CPR certification.
- Strong communication, relationship‑building, and leadership skills.
- Demonstrated understanding of hospital operations and patient care management.
- Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or Master's degree in a healthcare‑related field.
- Additional leadership experience within acute care inpatient services.
- Experience leading quality, patient safety, or operational improvement initiatives.
