Position Summary

Pima Medical Institute is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to serve as a Nursing Instructor for our Tucson campus nursing program . In this part-time, benefits-eligible role (30 hours per week), you will educate and mentor nursing students across didactic, laboratory, and clinical environments in accordance with program curriculum, institutional standards, and Arizona State Board of Nursing rules .

Whether teaching in the classroom, guiding skills lab practice, or supervising students at clinical sites, you will play a critical role in shaping competent, compassionate future nurses .

Key Responsibilities

Instruction & Clinical Leadership:

  • Didactic & Clinical Delivery: Provide didactic classroom instruction and/or clinical learning experiences for students .
  • Lesson Execution: Prepare and deliver lesson plans based on approved course syllabi, objectives, and outlines .
  • Clinical Supervision: Coordinate learning objectives between the classroom and clinical sites, maintaining positive working relationships with site representatives .
  • Lab Maintenance: Assist with the upkeep, inventory, and equipment recommendations for the Nursing Skills Laboratory .

Curriculum & Program Governance:

  • Program Development: In conjunction with the Program Director, assist in developing, implementing, and evaluating the nursing program of learning .
  • Standards & Accreditation: Participate in program evaluation plans and accreditation processes (e.g., NLN/ACEN) . Help develop standards for student admission, progression, and graduation .
  • Faculty Mentorship: Assist with orienting and mentoring new nursing faculty members .

Student Advising & Administration:

  • Academic Counseling: Schedule regular check-ins to provide academic feedback, personal counseling, and student advisement .
  • Applicant Screening: Interview and counsel prospective student applicants .
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate student attendance, clinical evaluation logs, and academic records per institutional policies .
Minimum Requirements
  • Education:
    • Master’s degree in Nursing (MSN) preferred .
    • Master’s degree in another field is acceptable if the Baccalaureate degree is in Nursing (BSN) .
  • Program Background: Graduation from an accredited nursing program recognized by the USDE or CHEA
