Unit Information:

31 bed unit with 23 private and 4 semi private rooms catering to cardiac medical and surgical patients. It is a team oriented unit, involves multi-disciplinary approach in taking care of patients with a fast turnover and focuses on patient experience. All nurses are ACLS and BLS certified with telemetry competency with patient ration of 1: 4-5 both days and nights.

The surgical population varies from post open heart procedures, day 1-2 out of ICU, VATS, thoracotomies and decortications, pericardectomy, pericardial windows, thymectomy (all procedures done by our cardio-thoracic surgeons). The cardiac medical patients are STEMI/NSTEMI with or without interventions, post coronary angiographies/angioplasties, device placements like ICD, pacemakers, Watchmans, mitral clips and also patients that needs medication/treatment for AFIB, CHF, arrhythmias, cardiac infections.

SUMMARY

The clinical nurse leader is responsible for the assessment, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of the delivery of safe and effective patient-centered care. The Clinical Nurse Leader will facilitate and mentor others to grow professionally and advance their knowledge and skills. In addition, the Clinical Nurse Leader will continuously assess unit needs to ensure adequate resources for current and upcoming shifts by collaborating with other departments, clinical and nonclinical, to coordinate admissions, transfers, and discharges of patients in a timely manner.

Finally, the Clinical Nurse Leader will demonstrate professionalism at all times and will uphold standards of practice by holding team members accountable for continued compliance.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION:

Professional degree in nursing (RN) required. Pre‑registration nurse practitioner, graduate education (PhD or MSc) not required.

EXPERIENCE

One (1) year of nursing experience in an acute care setting required. Two (2) years of nursing experience in an acute care setting preferred.

LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION

Registered Nurse (RN) with valid state licensure; certification in acute care (ACLS, BLS) required.
