Landscape and Grounds Maintenance Technician

Job Summary

Support the total child caring function of Casa de los Niños by providing general landscaping and grounds maintenance for the entire campus. This includes but is not limited to keeping exterior steps, stairs and sidewalks clear of debris, trimming plants and trees, sweeping, raking and weed control. Fertilization, disease control and irrigation system management is an important part of the position.

This is a part-time position requiring up to 15 hours per week.

• Clean exterior steps, stairs and sidewalks to ensure they are clear of debris.
• Clean campus to keep it free of trash, litter and debris.
• Maintain landscaping and keep weeds controlled with pre‑emergent spray, hula hoe, weed killing spray and manual removal.
• Follow all OSHA standards regarding chemical usage and storage.
• Trim trees and plants to allow unencumbered use of sidewalks and patios while also maintaining the health and growth of the trees and plants.
• Fertilize plants and trees as needed.
• Inspect and treat any disease in or on the plants and trees.
• Remove sucker growth from tree trunks.
• Rake gravel areas to maintain consistent landscaping coverage.
• Inspect and manage the irrigation system to ensure health and function of the system including all valves, controllers, tubing and emitters.
• Assist Maintenance Team with set-up and take down of conference rooms and other event preparation and clean up.

• Age Requirements:
  Must be 18 years of age.
• Education:
  
  High School Diploma or GED.
• Experience:
  
  2 years of professional landscaping.
• Skills:
  
  Knowledge of plants and groundskeeping chemicals.
• Abilities:
  Ability to work independently with little or no supervision.
• Knowledge and experience using Microsoft Office software:
  Outlook, Teams.
• Ability to climb ladder.
• Excellent communication skills in English including reading and writing.
• Must be able to meet training and organization requirements for the position.
