The faculty of the School of Landscape Architecture and Planning at The University of Arizona invites applicants for a tenure‑track assistant professor to support our growing real estate and urban planning programs. We seek a colleague with expertise in real estate who brings a strong understanding of public and private development processes and responsible real estate development. This position will help support our school’s Bachelor of Science in Real Estate, Master of Real Estate Development, Undergraduate Minor in Real Estate, as well as the Housing and Real Estate Development concentration in our Master of Science in Urban Planning.

We seek candidates whose primary expertise is in real estate, but whose scholarship or professional expertise intersects with other disciplines of the built environment, such as urban planning, architecture, landscape architecture, and sustainable design.

Priority reviews will begin March 4th.

The successful candidate may have expertise in topics such as but not limited to: quantitative methods in real estate, market analysis, real estate investments, tax policy/law, appraisals (including for new and adaptive reuse projects), finance, construction and/or development management, brokerage, asset and portfolio management, real estate law, land use, or urban economics.

Real‑estate degree programs
  • Bachelor of Science in Real Estate
  • Undergraduate Minor in Real Estate Development
  • Master of Real Estate Development (online and in‑person)
  • Master of Science in Urban Planning (Housing and Real Estate Concentration)
  • Also within the school, we offer the Bachelor of Science in Sustainable Built Environments with tracks in sustainable communities and real estate (online and in‑person), undergraduate and graduate degrees in landscape architecture, and a certificate in heritage conservation.
  • The College of Architecture, Landscape Architecture, and Planning also houses the School of Architecture and the Drachman Institute, which supports the college’s legacy of outreach and strong community connections.
Candidate Expectations
  • Maintain an active research agenda
  • Teach graduate and undergraduate courses in the real estate and related degree programs.
  • Pursue grant opportunities to support individual and/or collaborative research projects
  • Participate in service and community engagement efforts in the department, college, and university
  • Support and contribute to the diversity initiatives in the department, college, and university
