OverviewThe University of Arizona's Tree Ring Laboratory invites you to apply for the role of Research Technician III. This research technician position is based within the TIME Lab supporting the processing of samples for high-precision radiocarbon analysis following strict procedures. The majority of time will be spent within the laboratory preparing samples and running chemical extractions on a variety of sample types.
The staff member will also assist with running analytical equipment. The position also includes administrative tasks such as handling user inquiries, data entry, sample labeling, sample tracking, ordering supplies, and related administrative work.

Duties & ResponsibilitiesDuties and Responsibilities:
- Assisting with the meticulous preparation of samples for radiocarbon analysis following established protocols. This includes mixing chemicals, keeping the lab and equipment in pristine condition, and maintaining logs.
- Assist with receiving samples from users, handling user inquiries, data entry, sample labeling, sample tracking, ordering supplies, and related administrative work for the smooth running of the facility.
- Assist TIME Lab staff with the routine running of analytical equipment including EA, AGE3, CHS2, GIS, and MICADAS.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to work in a laboratory with a meticulous attention to detail is essential.

QualificationsMinimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent with a minimum of 5 years experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience working with analytical equipment such as mass-spectrometers, EAs, or similar instruments is highly desirable.
- A background and interest in chemistry, earth sciences, archaeology, and/or ecology also highly desirable.
