Research Scientist
Job Summary
Responsible for conducting research, development and manufacturing laboratory experimentation and other scientific activities to support projects. Exercises technical expertise and discretion in the design, execution and interpretation of experiments that contribute to project strategies. Prepares technical reports, summaries, protocols and quantitative analyses. Presents and discusses results of experiments within department and project team. Maintains high level of professional expertise through familiarity with scientific literature and may participate in conferences and professional societies.
Follows company policies and procedures for GMP, GLP, Design Control and others as appropriate. Maintains complete and accurate laboratory documentation and electronic files. May act as principal investigator in conducting own experiments.
The role involves performing research, development, and manufacturing laboratory experimentation and supporting projects with other scientific activities. The incumbent designs, executes, and interprets experiments to inform project strategies, develops technical reports and quantitative analyses, and presents findings to the department and project team. Services include staying current with scientific literature, attending conferences, adhering to GMP/GLP/Design Control policies, maintaining comprehensive lab records, and may lead independent experimental investigations.
Responsibilities- Design experimental protocols with minimal supervision.
- Execute bench experiments; make detailed and general observations and analyze data.
- Prepare technical reports, summaries, and quantitative analyses.
- Maintain complete and accurate records.
- Receive general directions on routine work and detailed directions on new assignments.
- Make suggestions to improve work processes and the laboratory environment.
- Assist in identifying and reducing to practice patentable inventions.
- Work on problems of diverse scope where data analysis requires evaluation of identifiable factors.
- Exercise judgment within generally defined practices and policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
- Participate in cross‑functional technical teams such as failure investigation teams.
- Work well in a team environment, be a productive project team member, suggest creative solutions, and provide input for project planning.
- Train others in areas of expertise.
- Troubleshoot problems and institute corrective action.
- Prepare and present experimental procedures and results in group and project teams.
- Monitor work to ensure quality and continuously promote Quality First Time.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
- Bachelor's Degree in Science.
- 2 years relevant job experience.
- Equivalencies are not acceptable.
Skills and Abilities
- Knows basic and a range of specialized laboratory techniques.
- Capable of searching scientific literature to gain information about specific topics.
- Skilled with use of word processing, spreadsheets, graphical and presentation software applications.
The maximum pay rate is $27 per hour for this position.
