Role OverviewBEPC is seeking a Senior Research Associate (PHCS) in Tucson, AZ.
This role is responsible for conducting advanced research, development, and manufacturing laboratory experimentation to support diagnostic product development initiatives. The Senior Research Associate exercises a high level of technical expertise and independent judgment in designing, executing, and interpreting complex experiments that directly impact project strategies.
The ideal candidate is highly experienced in laboratory techniques, capable of working independently, and comfortable leading cross-functional technical initiatives in a regulated environment.
Key Responsibilities Experimental Design & Scientific Leadership- Design experimental plans aligned with project objectives
- Independently develop methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria
- Execute complex bench experiments and analyze diverse data sets
- Troubleshoot technical challenges and implement corrective actions
- Recognize patentable or publication-worthy activities
- May act as principal investigator for assigned experiments
- Prepare technical reports, summaries, and quantitative analyses
- Present experimental results to department and project teams
- Maintain complete and accurate laboratory documentation and electronic files
- Promote Quality First Time principles in all work activities
- Participate in or lead cross-functional technical teams (e.g., failure investigations)
- Provide input to project planning and strategic direction
- Train and mentor other team members
- May supervise lower-level personnel and laboratory operations
- Follow company policies and procedures for GMP, GLP, and Design Control
- Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory and quality standards
Maintain high professional expertise through scientific literature review - Participate in scientific conferences and professional activities when applicable
- Bachelor’s Degree in Science with 6+ years of relevant experience
- OR
- Master’s Degree in Science with relevant experience
- Extensive knowledge of a wide range of experimental laboratory techniques
- Ability to independently determine methods and procedures for new assignments
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to evaluate complex and intangible variables
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, graphical, and presentation software
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience in in-vitro diagnostics or regulated laboratory environments
- Experience supporting R&D and manufacturing laboratory projects
- Experience leading technical teams or mentoring junior staff
- Publication or patent contribution experience
- Highly independent and technically strong
- Experienced in complex experimental design
- Strong documentation and presentation skills
- Comfortable leading cross-functional initiatives
