Research Technician IV, Division of Endocrinology
The Department of Medicine is seeking experienced and skilled applicants to fill a Research Technician IV position in the Division of Endocrinology, for the research lab of Dr. Ronadip Banerjee. The role supports laboratory research investigating hormonal regulation of pancreatic islets, with emphasis on how insulin‑producing beta cells adapt during pregnancy and the postpartum period. The position contributes to understanding gestational diabetes and future risk of type 2 diabetes, while supporting experimental research through data collection, statistical analysis, and the application of advanced cell and molecular biology techniques, particularly RNA isolation and gene expression analysis.
This position may require limited weekend hours for time‑sensitive experiments.

- Set up and perform highly technical experiments in support of research projects, applying a wide range of cell and molecular biology techniques, including RNA isolation, gene expression analysis using qPCR, Western blotting for proteins, immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence, and cell culture.
- Perform metabolic studies on live mice and isolate tissues from euthanized mice for conducting molecular and cellular analyses.
- Evaluate and optimize methods to ensure accuracy and timeliness of data collection.
- Perform and interpret statistical analyses of research data.
- Design and maintain spreadsheets and databases for research data tracking and management.
- Enter and manage data using databases and other computer software.
- Maintain and document detailed laboratory protocols and SOPs.
- Ensure data integrity, accuracy, and proper record keeping.
- Attend mandatory research team meetings.
- Present research findings at laboratory and university meetings as appropriate.
- Serve as a point of contact, coordinating with the lab manager to discuss day‑to‑day planning and study progress, and attend additional meetings with the Principal Investigator approximately two to four times a month.
- Contribute to the preparation of reports for principal investigators and senior scientists.
- Perform additional research‑related duties as directed by the lab manager and PI, such as coordinating the procurement and inventory management of laboratory supplies.
- Ability to learn relevant research techniques quickly.
- Skilled in animal handling and procedures on live mice, mouse colony maintenance, and genotyping.
- Proficiency in the use of software applications, databases, spreadsheets, and word processing.
- High school diploma or high school diploma equivalency.
- Seven (7) years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Experience with cell culture, microscopy, RNA/DNA extraction, PCR, qPCR, and Western blotting.
