How to ApplyThe University of Arizona's Department of Psychology invites you to apply to the role of Postdoctoral Research Associate I. As a Postdoctoral Researcher, you will be involved in the analysis of existing field data on cooperation and well-being among the Mayangna of Nicaragua. The Mayangna are an indigenous group of horticulturalists who live in the Bosawas region of Northern Nicaragua. This job requires that the researcher conduct fieldwork in Bosawas biosphere reserve of Northern Nicaragua during field visits as assigned for less than 8 weeks within a calendar year.
This is a remote area with little-to-no Internet access, and no basic services (e.g., water, sewage, trash, electricity, etc.). The researcher will also aid in the design and development of new studies (e.g., experiments, cross-cultural surveys, momentary assessment), collaborate on ongoing projects, gain mentorship, and pursue professional development.
The ideal candidate is fluent in Spanish, has strong skills in statistics (e.g., SEM, multi-level models, longitudinal data, social networks), data visualization, and is knowledgeable in the science of cooperation/prosocial behavior, evolutionary human sciences, and/or affective science.
The position is for up to three years (yearly contracts with renewal).
