Position OverviewThe Department of Medicine at the University of Arizona is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Associate for the Division of Endocrinology in the laboratory of Dr. Ronadip Banerjee. The focus of this position will be to study molecular mechanisms of pancreatic islet adaptation to pregnancy and dysregulation in gestational diabetes mellitus and other metabolic disorders. The Postdoctoral Research Associate will engage in advanced research training, contribute to the Division’s research initiatives under Dr.
Banerjee’s mentorship, and collaborate with other researchers.
- Design and carry out long‑term, multi‑stage experiments and projects. Record, analyze and organize data for project completion, presentation at meetings, and publication.
- Participate in lab meetings, group meetings, journal clubs, and collaborative research projects.
- Write manuscripts leading to research publications.
- Prepare posters and short talks for attendance at local, regional and national meetings.
- Write career development grants, obtain funding, and contribute to lab‑based grant proposals.
- Engage in career development activities, contribute to training and mentoring of undergraduate and graduate students in the lab, and carry out other duties as assigned by the Principal Investigator.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong work ethic and ability to work interactively.
- Ability to develop collaborations both within and outside the institution.
- Ability to carry out routine duties independently while maintaining excellent communication with the Principal Investigator.
- Willingness to work with animal models and human islets.
- PhD and/or MD in a science‑related field; 0‑5 years experience at Postdoc rank.
- Experience in islet biology or diabetes; experience in metabolism, genetics, developmental biology, or related disciplines.
- Strong candidates for extramural postdoctoral fellowships.
- Prior experience with mouse models.
