Research Technician I
- Department of Surgery
The Department of Surgery seeks a motivated Research Technician I to support research projects focused on wound healing, tissue regeneration, and advanced therapeutics. This entry-level position is ideal for candidates seeking hands‑on experience in a translational research environment.
Position Highlights- Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
Research Support:
- Perform routine laboratory experiments under supervision, including cell culture, histology, and molecular biology assays (e.g., flow cytometry sample preparation) and microscopy.
- Assist in animal studies under supervision (murine models), including husbandry, monitoring, and procedures under IACUC-approved protocols.
- Collect and process tissue, blood, and other samples.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of experiments, procedures, and results in laboratory notebooks and databases.
Data Collection and Analysis:
- Support data acquisition and data entry.
Team
Collaboration:
- Work closely with postdoctoral researchers, graduate students, and principal investigators to support ongoing projects.
- Attend and participate in lab meetings, journal clubs, and departmental seminars.
Laboratory Maintenance:
- Prepare reagents, media, and other supplies necessary for experiments.
- Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure proper operation and cleanliness.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations, biosafety protocols, and institutional guidelines.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Knowledge of laboratory techniques (pipetting, centrifugation, microscopy, etc.).
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively and follow protocols carefully.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- High school diploma or high school diploma equivalency is required.
- Bachelor’s degree in biology, biochemistry, biomedical sciences, or a related field.
- Previous research or lab experience (through coursework, internships, or employment) is preferred but not required.
- Familiarity with some cell culture techniques, molecular biology assays, or animal models of research.
- Experience working under laboratory safety protocols (e.g., BSL‑2 procedures).
- Enthusiasm for wound healing research, regenerative medicine, and translational science.
