Position Highlights
- We are seeking a highly qualified researcher/scientist with extensive expertise in exercise physiology and immunology to support the ongoing research work of Dr. Richard Simpson. This position will support Dr. Simpson's NIH and NASA funded research that requires extensive knowledge and expertise of exercise immunology, cancer immunology and exercise physiology. In particular, future directions for this research require projects spanning the research continuum from bioinformatic analysis of single-cell data to clinical exercise trials involving healthy and patient populations.

This is an Extended Temporary Employment (ETE) position. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. Duties & Responsibilities
- Lead 1–3 independent research projects determined by PI priorities and applicant's interests. Work independently for project experimental design, execution, analysis, interpretation and will contribute to the final dissemination of results at conferences and in journal publications. Develop and plan new research ideas in consultation with the PI and actively seek funding opportunities for these projects. Participate in the acquisition of eligible NIH grants and assist the PI with grant preparation when appropriate.

Mentor 1-2 undergraduate and PhD students, serving as a scientific collaborator and technical resource. Perform shared lab responsibilities such as maintaining accurate database records and assisting with exercise trial sample collection and analysis. Acquire new skills (i.e. metabolic assays) to allow the lab to expand into novel areas of research.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):
Knowledge in mouse handling, drug administration (SC, IP, and IV), and tumor burden measurements through bioluminescent imaging and body condition scoring. Skilled in multi-color flow cytometry and antibody panel design. Knowledge of bioinformatic methods to analyze bulk and sinlge-cell RNAseq and CITEseq datasets. Ability to run human exercise trials, VO2max testing and phlebotomy. Ability to command routine cell culture techniques and functional immunoassays.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required. Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in immunology, exercise physiology or related discipline. Phlebotomy certification. Experience working with Flow Logic or Flow Jo.
