Position Highlights:
The Sarver Heart Center at the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Tucson is seeking multiple highly motivated candidates for full‑time positions as Postdoctoral Research Associates in Dr. Hesham Sadek's laboratory. The lab focuses on cardiac metabolism, regeneration, and stem cell metabolism research. The successful Postdoctoral applicants should be organized, detail‑oriented, productive, and able to work independently as well as with others.
Prior research experience in molecular biology, clinical trials, drug discovery, or cardiovascular research is preferred but not required. Successful candidates will be involved in studies related to mechanisms of genetic cardiomyopathies as well as mechanisms and therapeutics for induction of myocardial regeneration.

Duties & Responsibilities:
- Perform independent multi‑disciplinary research experiments under the direction of the principal investigator.
- Develop, design, and conduct complex research projects.
- Develop and maintain detailed records of experiments, analyzing and writing findings.
- Perform scientific data collections, reductions, and analyses involving routine procedures characterized by use of independent judgment.
- Develop and implement protocols as dictated by experimental results.
- Participate in grant writing, including generating preliminary data, submitting grant applications, and preparing progress reports.
- Present results at laboratory meetings and conferences.
- Prepare manuscripts for publication in peer‑reviewed journals.
- Contribute to maintaining a safe, compliant lab environment, including remaining up‑to‑date on mandatory safety training.
- May provide occasional guidance or briefly oversee graduate/undergraduate students working in the lab.
- Oversee maintenance of hazardous/chemical waste records and disposal as needed.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Demonstrated research experience in cardiovascular biology, particularly in cardiac regeneration and/or cardiomyocyte biology.
- Ability to perform laboratory techniques with mouse models and/or human iPSC culture into cardiomyocytes (iPSC‑CMs).
Minimum Qualifications:
- Doctoral degree (MD, PhD, or equivalent) in a related field by start date.
- 0‑2 years of experience at Postdoc rank.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Research experience in molecular biology, clinical trials, drug discovery, or cardiovascular research.
- Experience working in a multi‑disciplinary environment.
