Position HighlightsThe University of Arizona's Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry invites you to apply for the role of Postdoctoral Research Associate. In this role, you will contribute to innovative research in theoretical chemistry, advancing our understanding of physical and chemical processes in complex systems. Our research program combines novel computational and theoretical methods with applications to significant scientific challenges. The successful candidate must have extensive experience modeling the proteins of cardiac muscle and with rare event simulation methods such as Transition Path Sampling and Meta dynamics.

Duties & Responsibilities- Perform QM/MM simulations of chemical reactions in enzymes.
- Use enhanced sampling techniques such as Transition Path Sampling and Meta dynamics.
- Ability to work with others effectively and productively.
- Ph.D. degree in theoretical chemistry or equivalent upon hire.
- Extensive experience in applying rare event simulation methods such as Transition Path Sampling and Meta dynamics.
- Extensive experience in studying the thin and thick filaments of cardiac muscle tissue and how mutations that cause hypertrophic cardiomyopathy affect both chemistry and conformational change in these proteins.
- Expertise evidenced by publications in major journals applying these techniques to the specific systems of interest.
- FLSA Exempt.
