Position: Research Technician III, Cellular and Molecular Medicine (Part-Time)

Position Highlights

The Department of Cellular and Molecular Medicine is seeking a highly skilled Research Technician III to support advanced research with minimal supervision. The ideal candidate will bring specialized expertise in cell biology, molecular biology, and biochemistry techniques and demonstrate the ability to independently troubleshoot and propose innovative solutions to experimental challenges. The position also involves maintaining mouse colonies and assisting with laboratory management.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Mammalian cell culture
  • Cell biological assays
  • DNA/RNA isolation
  • Molecular cloning
  • qPCR
  • Western blotting
  • Protein extraction and purification
  • Immunofluorescence microscopy
Maintain Mouse Colonies Which Includes
  • Breeding and weaning
  • Genotyping
  • Harvesting tissues
  • Performing physiological assessments
Protocol Design and Refinements
  • With minimal supervisor guidance, refines, adapts, and makes decisions to switch experiment parameters in response to situational demands of experiments.
  • Assists in preparing experimental designs, technical protocols and techniques, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Record‑keeping, Analysis, and Presentations
  • Communicates effectively all aspects of experiments with PI or other laboratory staff.
  • Keeps accurate and detailed records of experiments, results, and enters data in laboratory databases.
  • Catalogs specimens and samples.
  • Performs independent analysis and interpretation of data for investigator.
Operational Support
  • Orders and catalogs laboratory supplies and supports laboratory operations.
  • Operating, maintaining and troubleshoot highly specialized and sophisticated scientific apparatuses, equipment, and instruments.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
  • Aptitude for quick learning and multi‑tasking.
  • Knowledge of cell biology, molecular biology, and biochemistry principles and techniques.
  • Expertise in cell culture, molecular cloning, nucleic acid analysis, protein biochemistry, and microscopy techniques.
  • Skill in troubleshooting laboratory procedures and optimizing experimental protocols.
  • Experience handling laboratory mice.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and project management skills.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a collaborative research team.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or high school diploma equivalency is required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
