Position Highlights The Research Technician II will work in the Laboratory of Dr. Steven Scoville and focus on contributing to the research initiatives for the department under the principal investigator mentorship and interaction with collaborators. The project seeks to define inhibitory pathways that are interfering with NK cells ability to eliminate pediatric solid tumors such as Neuroblastoma. The applicant preferably would have prior experience in wet lab research, including experience with human cell line and primary cell culture work.

Duties & Responsibilities

Coordinate, collect, and manage research data collection and experiments as well as preparatory work related to that according to established protocols. This work would include:

  • Maintain cell lines
  • Process primary human samples
  • Co culture systems
  • In vitro differentiation assays
  • Flow cytometry staining and running of samples
  • Real time PCR
  • Western blotting and other protein based assays
  • Killing assays

Laboratory setup and maintenance:

  • Ordering supplies
  • Keeping appropriate inventory of stock reagents, cell lines, tissue, etc.
  • Ordering reagents for upcoming experiments
  • Maintaining lab readiness and cleanliness
  • Assisting with lab equipment maintenance and communication as needed with company for any needed repairs.

Assist with data collection and analysis including:

  • Maintaining orderly laboratory data with ongoing experiments.
  • Primary data analysis and presentation for review with PI on regular basis.
  • Future experiment planning and preparation.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or high school diploma equivalency is required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Flow cytometry, PCR, western blot, cell culture is preferred.
