Research Technician III

Dr. Killgore is seeking a Research Technician III to assist with data collection and study coordination within the Social, Cognitive, and Affective Neuroscience (SCAN) Laboratory. The Lab is devoted to the study of emotional intelligence, PTSD, mTBI, stress and related conditions. The selected candidate will coordinate day-to-day logistical and laboratory operations of the SCAN lab research projects.

** Overnight and weekend shifts will be required for this position.**

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Independently perform treatment administration procedures, such as cognitive testing, brain stimulation, virtual reality testing, and neuroimaging, in accordance with protocols.
  • Perform set up of routine research experiments and tests following lab procedures and protocols.
  • Provides recommendations to the PI's on improved protocols and procedures to improve laboratory outcomes.
  • Develops and updates standard operating procedures and compliance records as needed.
  • Collect and compile research data for entry into laboratory databases.
  • Maintain records, logs, notes, and spreadsheets to facilitate data analysis.
  • Participate in preparing research experimental reports, summaries, protocols, and quantitative results to facilitate data analysis.
  • Train junior technicians and students in all treatment administration procedures and protocols.
  • Train junior technicians on research sample collection, specimen preparation, and data collection and entry.
  • Train and guide other laboratory staff on the use of research equipment and other lab procedures.
  • Organize team meetings for training.
  • Analyzes data generated from experiments and assists the PI in preparation of data figures for manuscripts and grant applications.
  • Prepares Institutional Review Board (IRB) and other regulatory documents and submits to PI for review.
  • Works with Health Sciences Regulatory Coordinators to ensure accurate and timely submission of this information.
  • Drafts quarterly and annual reports and submits to PI for review.
  • Assist the PI with preparation and submission of quarterly and annual reports to granting agencies to ensure accuracy and precision in reporting.
  • Post flyers and reach out to organizations or people in the community to increase pipeline of research participants.
  • Conducts interviews with study subjects and document findings.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to administer psychological batteries or neuropsychological tests. Knowledge of human subjects screening and recruitment procedures. Knowledge of Good Clinical Practice and HIPAA in human subjects research.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or high school diploma equivalency is required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
