Postdoctoral Research Associate, Cellular and Molecular Medicine (Full-Time) Position Highlights

We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join the Sadayappan Laboratory within the Department of Cellular and Molecular Medicine at the University of Arizona. The environment features a world‑class group of investigators with vast expertise in cardiovascular and skeletal muscle science. The laboratory is focused broadly on studying the regulation of sarcomeric proteins such as cardiac myosin heavy chain, including its S2 sub fragment, and cardiac myosin binding protein-C (cMyBP-C), protein‑protein interactions, myopeptide‑based therapeutics, gene therapies, drug screening, preclinical studies, cardiac contractility and signaling in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and heart failure, with the overarching goal of uncovering new molecular mechanisms that serve as tractable therapeutic targets to improve heart health.

The lab utilizes multiple techniques to study basic molecular mechanisms of disease from molecules all the way through to the organism, including iPSC‑derived cardiomyocytes, organoids, and animal models. This includes molecular biology (RNAseq and proteomics), biochemistry, measuring cardiac function (echocardiography), pressure volume loop (cardiac slicing), isolated cardiomyocytes (Ion Opt, ix) and skinned papillary and myocytes (Aurora system), h‑gh resolution confocal microsc, opy and in vivo studies.
