Position Highlights

The R. Ken Coit College of Pharmacy is inviting applicants to apply for the position of Research Technician II in the lab of Dr. Xinxin Ding in the department of Pharmacology and Toxicology. This position will support biological research conducted by senior researchers. The work will mainly include performing assays for the detection and quantification of biological molecules in tissue samples.

The results will help with understanding how environmental chemicals cause tissue injury.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Perform antibody-based or enzyme activity-based assays using assay kits, to include initiating reactions, monitoring reactions, measuring products, calculating rate or amounts.
  • Perform immunoblot analysis of protein expression, to include optimizing conditions, preparing reagents, performing immunoblotting and densitometry, and calculating amounts.
  • Collect mouse tissue samples for analysis.
  • Conduct gene expression analysis, to include cDNA Synthesis, Amplification & Detection using PCR.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Ability to work with rodents.
  • Knowledge of biological sciences.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent, or equivalent learning attained through experience may be required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • BS or higher in biological sciences.
  • Experience with assaying, immunoblotting, and PCR.
