Laboratory Coordinator I, Division of Endocrinology

The Department of Medicine is seeking experienced and skilled applicants to fill a Laboratory Coordinator I position in the Division of Endocrinology, for the research lab of Dr. Ronadip Banerjee. This position supports laboratory operations and research investigating hormonal regulation of pancreatic islets, with emphasis on how insulin‑producing beta cells adapt during pregnancy and the postpartum period. The role contributes to understanding mechanisms driving gestational diabetes and future type 2 diabetes risk, while supporting experimental research through data collection and analysis, maintaining research documentation and records, coordinating supplies and equipment needs, and collaborating with research teams to ensure efficient and compliant execution of scientific studies.

Works under close supervision while developing technical and operational knowledge in support of ongoing research programs. This position may be required to work limited weekend hours for time-sensitive experiments.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Under the supervision of the Laboratory Operations Manager, assist with preparing the laboratory for research activities and highly technical experiments in support of active research projects.
  • Assist research staff with metabolic studies involving live mice and the collection and processing of tissues from euthanized mice for molecular and cellular analyses, following established protocols and procedures.
  • Support data collection activities by assisting with the implementation of established research methods and procedures to promote accurate and timely results.
  • With guidance from the Laboratory Operations Manager and Principal Investigator (PI), support day-to-day study coordination and communicate project status, scheduling needs, and operational updates.
  • Assist with organizing, compiling, and maintaining research data in spreadsheets, databases, and other data management systems.
  • Perform routine data entry and verification tasks to help ensure data accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
  • Maintain laboratory records, protocols, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and other documentation in accordance with laboratory, institutional, and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist with monitoring data quality and support efforts to maintain data integrity and accurate recordkeeping.
  • Participate in required laboratory and research team meetings and provide updates on assigned activities as appropriate.
  • Collaborate with laboratory staff, researchers, and other departments to facilitate efficient use of laboratory resources, equipment, and shared facilities.
  • Assist in the preparation and organization of technical reports, research summaries, presentations, and other project-related documentation for investigators and senior research staff.
  • Assist with monitoring laboratory supply inventories and coordinate procurement activities to help maintain adequate stock levels for research operations.
  • Support laboratory operations by identifying equipment maintenance needs and reporting issues to appropriate personnel for servicing or repair.
  • Perform other related laboratory support and research assistance duties as assigned by the Laboratory Operations Manager and PI.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to learn relevant research techniques quickly.
  • Skilled in animal handling and procedures/experimentation on live mice, mouse colony maintenance, and genotyping.
  • Proficiency in the use of software applications, databases, spreadsheets, and word processing.
