Retail & Store Manager, Retail Associate/ Customer Service
What You Will Do
Responsibilities- Provide resources and tools to help associates deliver the best customer service.
- Assist with down‑stocking and area recovery, and contribute to merchandising decisions.
- Monitor use of store power equipment and coach employees on safe behaviors and lifting techniques.
- Lead and enable a team of associates to deliver the best possible customer experience.
- Coach and train associates, delegate tasks, manage performance, and ensure adequate department coverage.
- Handle customer‑facing activities such as greeting customers, clarifying needs, and closing sales.
- Perform non‑customer‑facing activities such as inventory management and safety walks.
- Communicate with upper management to keep them informed of concerns, issues, praises, and morale.
- Supervise associates in other departments as needed and occasionally open/close the store or serve as manager‑on‑duty (MOD).
- Engage associates and customers across departments, using broad product knowledge.
Travel requirements:
This role does not require regular travel; however, this role may need to travel on occasion to meetings, trainings, or to support neighboring stores or outlets.
Hourly Full‑time – Generally scheduled 39 to 40 hours; additional hours may be required based on store needs.
- Require morning, afternoon and evening availability any day of the week.
- Physical ability to stand, sit, and perform required tasks, including lifting at least 25 pounds without assistance.
- High school diploma or equivalent and either 3 years of retail experience or 5 years of retail experience.
- 1 year of customer service experience.
- 1 year of experience supporting the unique needs of Pro customers (for Pro Department Supervisor).
- Experience providing direction or supervision to teams (direct or no direct reports).
- Experience in training, mentoring, and developing associates.
- Experience working cross‑functionally.
- Experience using Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to obtain required sales licensure or registration as required by law.
- 3 years of retail customer service experience.
- 3 years of experience supporting the unique needs of Pro customers.
- Experience in a leadership role with direct report responsibility.
- Experience in the home‑improvement retail sector.
- Experience in a fast‑paced, dynamic retail environment.
- Experience in a key carrying role with manager‑on‑duty responsibilities.
- Experience using store computer systems such as Project Tool, Genesis, Sterling, M2O, Thin Client, etc.
