Position: Clinical Research Assistant - Department of Surgery (Part-Time)

Clinical Research Assistant – Department of Surgery (Part‑Time)

Position:
Clinical Research Assistant in the Department of Surgery (Division of Trauma, Critical Care, Burns and Emergency Surgery). The role supports clinical trauma research by providing evening and weekend availability for 24/7 direct observation and data collection across multiple trials, including hemorrhage control, resuscitation, spinal cord injury, surgical site infections, and traumatic brain injury.

Key responsibilities include screening and evaluating potential study participants, enrolling and obtaining consent, managing case‑report forms and participant binders, entering study data accurately and timely, monitoring patients throughout the clinical pathway to ensure protocol adherence, coordinating required lab testing with Banner lab, attending site visits, and resolving queries with the Trauma Research Manager.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Screen and evaluate potential study participants for eligibility.
  • Complete and maintain case report forms and participant binders, ensuring consents are current.
  • Enter study data into the electronic database accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Monitor patients throughout the clinical pathway (trauma, OR, IR, ICU, clinic) to ensure protocol adherence.
  • Notify Trauma Research Manager of any protocol issues or concerns.
  • Coordinate required lab testing and scheduling with Banner lab in collaboration with the Trauma Research Manager.
  • Attend site visits and contribute to additional duties or projects as assigned.
  • Explain the study, obtain consent, and enroll participants.
Knowledge, Skills & Ability
  • Ability to perform duties under minimal supervision with general expectations.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalency.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
  • Experience in clinical research and data management in a trauma or critical care setting.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
