Summary
Intervenes and diffuses potentially volatile situations with students and youth within the Tucson Unified School District and the community. Patrols district schools, sites, and adjacent areas to protect students, staff and equipment and property from criminal activity, responds to security alarms and calls for assistance. Supervises campus security positions at the site level.
Minimum Requirements- Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, social sciences, or related field, OR Four years experience in law enforcement, juvenile investigations, or child social work.
- 2 years supervisory experience
- Training in conflict or crisis resolution/mediation with youth.
- Experience in public speaking.
- Verbal & written communication skills in English and a demonstrated ability to read and comprehend written/graphic and oral instructions.
- Must be willing and able to carry and use all security weapons, to include a firearm.
- Ability to work occasional overtime and/or extended duty hours due to the need to cover large scale security, emergency, or other unforeseen events.
- FBI fingerprint background check
- Proof of immunity to rubella (measles) and rubella (German measles), or proof of MMR immunization.
- Physical Examination with Lift Test to be done by one of the clinics with which the District contracts (Category
B) and sign a Medical History form - Must be able to become TUSD bicycle certified.
- CPR and First Aid Certification
- Certification must be maintained current during course of employment - Valid Driver's license (Arizona Driver’s License required within 30 days of hire)
- MVReport – showing no more than the allowable points against Driver’s License as described under Governing Board Policy: EEB-R-1 Business and Personnel Transportation Services
- Transportation by Employees
- Current or former Law Enforcement or Corrections certification.
- Teaching experience to include instructor certification through an approved Law Enforcement or Corrections instructor certification.

FTE: 1.0 – 8 hours per day
Work Calendar: 10 month
Positions less than 30 hours per week are not eligible for district benefits.
Salary will be prorated if the start date is after the first day of the work calendar for the position.
