HVAC Mechanic

General Summary

An HVAC Technician to perform preventive maintenance, repairs, and installation of commercial and residential HVAC systems. Work will be performed throughout Southern Arizona at U.S. Border Patrol Stations, 4-10s. No on‑call. Must pass the Department of Homeland Security Background Investigation.

• Troubleshoot problems
• Repair HVAC systems
• Remove and install equipment
• Communicate equipment deficiencies
• Work with others

• Must pass the Department of Homeland Security Background Investigation
• Ability to perform most tasks of the craft without supervision
• Ability to read and understand blueprints, construction drawings, schematics, and diagrams
• Ability to drive safely
• Trained in handling all types and sizes of air conditioning, refrigeration, and evaporative cooling equipment
• EPA certification for purchasing and handling ozone‑depleting chemicals as outlined in federal and state regulations
• Ability to work in a team
• Boiler and chiller experience a plus

• Must be able to lift 50 lbs., squat, bend, stoop, and kneel for short periods; climb a ladder and stand for long periods; constant arm extensions
• Occasional exposure to elements such as heat, cold, noise, dust, dirt, chemicals, but none to the point of being disagreeable; may involve minor safety hazards resulting in cuts, bruises, etc.
• Driving two to four hours daily

Base salary range: $24.97–$30.00 per hour
