Utility Locator - Tucson, AZ

Job Description

USIC is seeking a Locator to perform independent field work, helping to locate underground utilities for telecommunications, electric, gas, water, and sewer utilities across the United States. The role requires a strong focus on safety, quality, and public service, and offers a comprehensive training program and career advancement opportunities.

$18.00 Hourly

• Locate underground utilities (telecommunications, electric power, cable TV, gas, water, and sewer) accurately and safely.
• Search designated areas, mark utility locations, complete required documentation, and photograph each locate.
• Work day‑time shifts with a 48‑hour turnaround on many locates; be available for overtime, weekends and on‑call shifts (including nights).

High School or GED.

• Willingness to work outdoors in varied weather; prior outdoor experience is a plus.
• Computer proficiency.
• Availability for overtime, weekends, and on‑call shifts.
• Ability to pass a drug screen.
• Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record.
• Ability to work in confined spaces, walk, bend, and lift up to 75 lbs.
• Color distinction skills for wiring and utility marking.
• Reading, understanding, and referencing locate tickets, maps, and prints.
• Clear communication with colleagues, customers, contractors, and homeowners.
