Secret. Must have an active security clearance on day 1.

Starting Wage

29.58 per hour*

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or Equivalency (GED)
  • Three (3) years experience as an industrial plumber or pipe fitter.
  • Able to work any designated shift including overnight.
  • Capable of working from oral and written instructions and blueprints using applicable specifications and codes.
  • Experienced in installing, repairing, assembling, and maintaining plant plumbing, compressed air, hot water, and steam systems.
  • Experience with deionized water (D.I.) systems, chemical waste systems, halon and deluge fire systems.
  • Must pass technical interview.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret clearance prior to the start date. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance. Must also maintain an Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) clearance.
Responsibilities
  • Determine routing of pipe, sequence of work operations, and location of plumbing fixtures, accessories and equipment per trade practice, specifications, blueprints, sketches and state, municipal and underwriters’ standards and ordinances.
  • Compute the type, size, and amount of pipe, connections and other materials necessary, using pressure, volume, gradient, temperature and substance factors when not furnished.
  • Lay out and mark guidelines and points on walls, floors, ceilings and open areas or set stakes to locate pipe routes, vents, inlets, outlets, connections, fixtures, and equipment. Make working sketches as required.
  • Install, connect, and test sanitary plumbing fixtures such as urinals, water closets, wash basins, sinks, and drinking fountains, as well as compressed air, fire sprinkling, irrigation, steam and other pressure systems, and gas and oil-fired equipment such as boilers, heat treating furnaces and all types of processing, heating, and deionization equipment. Fabricate air hoses.
  • Troubleshoot and repair major plumbing breakdowns by replacing or taking corrective action on clogged main sewer lines, main gas line breakdowns, seepage contaminated water supply lines, fire sprinkling nitrogen systems, steam generating equipment, and internal plumbing systems of production and facility equipment and devices that do not respond to routine maintenance troubleshooting.
  • Make material take‑off lists in own craft. Order material or parts directly from vendor using on‑line system or writing purchase requisitions. Order parts and materials from plant site stores.
  • Erect and disassemble scaffolding as work requires, for own craft.
  • Perform preventive maintenance (P.M.'s) as required.
  • Perform rework when operations are essentially the same as required for the work described herein.
  • Use oxyacetylene to perform work but not to weld or cut.
  • Perform incidental duties normally performed by other trades while performing functions associated with this classification.
  • Understand and perform all job duties in accordance with operating procedures, environmental and safety requirements and regulations governing the work area.
