Overview
A growing steel fabrication organization is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to support shop equipment, field equipment, and facility systems. This role plays a critical part in ensuring production runs efficiently by maintaining and repairing machinery used in fabrication operations.
The company operates in a fast-paced fabrication environment and values individuals who can work independently, solve problems quickly, and maintain high safety and operational standards.
The RoleThe Maintenance Technician is responsible for inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining production equipment and facility systems. Success in this role means minimizing equipment downtime, supporting production teams, and ensuring all machinery operates safely and efficiently.
This position works closely with shop leadership and production teams to identify maintenance needs, perform preventative maintenance, and respond quickly to equipment issues to keep operations running smoothly.
Responsibilities- Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain production equipment and facility systems.
- Maintain and service fabrication equipment including welding machines, cutting systems, and related shop machinery.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues on shop and field equipment.
- Perform preventative maintenance on welding systems including calibration, cable replacement, liners, and gas delivery systems.
- Respond to emergency equipment breakdowns and restore functionality to minimize production downtime.
- Conduct regular inspections of equipment, yard areas, and facilities to identify maintenance needs and safety concerns.
- Read and interpret equipment manuals, schematics, and technical drawings to complete repairs.
- Replace or repair defective components and test systems to ensure proper operation.
- Coordinate with external service providers when specialized repairs are required.
- Maintain maintenance records, service logs, and parts inventory.
- Ensure compliance with company safety policies and OSHA standards while maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
- Provide general shop support when required, including assisting with fabrication and operational tasks.
- High school diploma or GED
. - Valid driver’s license
. - Approximately 5+ years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or fabrication environment preferred.
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting ability.
- Experience using hand tools and power tools
. - Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and repair manuals
. - Ability to disassemble and repair machines and equipment to replace defective components.
- Strong time management and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
