ResponsibilitiesJOB SUMMARY
The Service Tech – HVAC performs maintenance, repair and installation of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems. This position is responsible for troubleshooting complex HVAC issues, guiding junior technicians, and ensuring systems are running efficiently.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Diagnose and troubleshoot commercial HVAC units at customer sites
- Provide service for commercial HVAC systems
- Maintain legible records of work history
- Report to work on time as scheduled by supervisor
- Work with commercial rooftop and air‑package units

- Perform additional duties as assigned
Education / Training
- AA degree from an accredited vocational technical or junior college
- EPA certification required
Experience
- Minimum 3‑5 years of experience in construction HVAC, refrigeration, or a related industry
- Experience troubleshooting electrical control systems
Work Experience & Skills
- Knowledge of hand and power tools
- Knowledge of refrigeration equipment and piping
- Ability to read and understand refrigeration, electrical, and plumbing blueprints
- Good communication and presentation skills, and excellent customer service
- Ability to understand and follow all company policies, procedures, and applicable state and federal laws
- Proficiency with common business tools (e‑mail, Word, Excel)
This job typically operates in convenience stores, grocery stores, food service and/or construction environments. Work may involve heights from ladders or scissor lifts, and mechanical rooms with elevated noise levels. The position regularly works near HVAC equipment that can expose workers to extreme cold from refrigerant or high heat from brazing operations. The role routinely encounters outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat, humidity, and exposure to dust.
Employees are required to use appropriate PPE and follow safe work practices.
Physical demands include: regular walking and standing for long periods; hearing, driving, sitting, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, climbing, using hands and fingers; lifting or moving up to 25 pounds, occasionally up to 50 pounds. Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
