Field Service Diesel Technician

Job Summary

Technical specialist and primary customer support contact to diagnose and execute complex repairs to engine products at the customer’s site.

We are looking for a talented Field Service Diesel Technician/Mechanic to join our Distribution business in Tucson, AZ.

• Complete repairs on engine products in a service shop
• Perform maintenance/repairs utilizing diagnostic tools
• Maintain detailed records of serviced vehicles
• Adhere to Cummins Health, Safety & Environmental policies
• Ongoing development and certification on new and existing Cummins products
• Maintain own tools
• Work in both shop and customer field locations as required

• Completes complex internal engine repairs
• Performs complex unassisted engine overhauls
• Ability to troubleshoot with limited or no support from diagnostic tools
• Detailed understanding of the aftertreatment system and components
• Mentor junior technicians, including technical support and documentation
• Proficient experience with engine diagnostic software
• Experience with chassis work (brakes, suspension, steering, etc.)
• Subject to Federal Transit Administration random and pre‑employment drug testing; ongoing random drug and alcohol testing required

• CDL may be required to obtain upon hire
• CDL holder must be 21 years of age or older
• A current valid license is required for this role
• 5‑year motor vehicle report free from major violations
• Must pass a Department of Transportation (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). years of driving experience
• Knowledge of DOT driving regulations, including hours of service and electronic log booking device use

Apprentice Trained Engine Technician (Preferred)

Vocational diploma from a relevant technical institution

Locally valid driving permit

May require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

Significant field service work experience

Expert level knowledge of and/or experience with engine products

Customer service experience

Experience providing technical advice and coaching to more junior technicians (preferred)

Base salary rate commensurate with experience.
