Position: Part Time Facilities Maintenance Technician I

Part Time Building Maintenance Technician I

Part Time Building Maintenance Technician I typically perform semi-skilled work, often involving basic maintenance tasks, repairs, and upkeep of building structures, grounds, and equipment. They may handle tasks like minor repairs to electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems, painting, and general cleaning, often under the supervision of a more experienced technician. Approximately 20 hours per week.

Responsibilities

Basic Repairs and Maintenance:
May include changing light bulbs, fixing minor plumbing leaks, repairing drywall or flooring, and performing basic electrical repairs.

General Cleaning:
Keeping common areas and facilities clean and organized, including tasks like cleaning windows, picking up outdoor trash or spot cleaning floors.

Safety Checks:
Inspecting and maintaining safety systems like smoke detectors and fire extinguishers.

Inventory and Record Keeping:
Managing inventory of supplies and maintaining records of inspections and completed work.

Supervisory Assistance:
May assist other maintenance personnel or subcontractors.

Equipment Maintenance:
Performing routine maintenance on equipment as assigned.

Minor to Moderate Repairs:
Performs minor/moderate repairs and adjustments, such as fixing plumbing leaks or repairing carpentry issues.

Installation:
May assist with the installation of new equipment or furniture.

Coordination:
May coordinate with outside contractors for specialized repairs or services.

Qualifications

Required Skills & Abilities:
Independent work, record keeping, communication, collaboration, assisting with larger projects, technical knowledge, blueprint and schematic interpretation, equipment operation and maintenance, software proficiency, customer service, organizational skills, comply with federal, state, and company policies, procedures, and regulations, US Citizenship or permanent residence required.

Education/

Experience:

High School or equivalent. Requires 1-3 years' experience in a Facilities Maintenance role. Preferred certifications in areas like HVAC, building maintenance technology, or relevant trades.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift and carry at least 50 pounds, good hand-eye coordination for operating tools and equipment, ability to stand and work for extended periods, as well as perform tasks that may require bending, kneeling, and climbing. Ability to withstand exposure to noise, dust, and other potential hazards in a work environment.

Compensation Range Transparency:
At Edmund Optics, we are committed to transparency and equity in our hiring practices. The posted salary range for this role reflects the expected base pay. The actual offer will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to relevant skills, education, work experience, business needs, and geographic location.

Salary Range: $19.50 - $22.00 per hour
