Journeyman Electrician​/Hotel​/Retail Ground

Job Description

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

A journeyman electrician is responsible to perform assigned tasks with minimal supervision, has the ability to read blueprints, terminate cable, install and troubleshoot control wiring from drawings, is able to demonstrate experience exceeding an electrical apprentice and must be proficient on rough-in work. Individual should have the ability to direct less experienced apprentices.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Demonstrate proficiency in the use of hand benders.
• Demonstrate knowledge of wire and conduit sizing, to include wire pulling procedures
• Able to rough in walls to code compliance
• Perform switch gear installations and terminations.
• Begin layout and preparation for installation.
• Perform underground layout and rough-in, to include using power equipment (ride on trenchers, etc...)
• Demonstrate knowledge of the NEC
• Able to troubleshoot motors and controls.
• Install buss feeders.
• Be able to positively identify colors.
• Knowledge and usage of all power hand tools, saws, wire tuggers, hydraulic benders, and knockout punches.
• Follow all safety protocols and procedures.

FUNCTIONAL REQUIREMENTS

• Have reliable transportation
• Have four or more years of electrical experience
• Comprehend reading and drawing blueprints and schematics of same
• Read and interpret maps, instructional manuals, specifications, work site directions, blueprints and written instructions
• Operate and work from mechanical personnel lifts (electric or gas powered)
• Work energized circuits and equipment with company management approval as outlined in Safety Policy
• Own and use of required tools at all times (waist tool belt as work weighs approximately 30 lbs)
• OSHA 10 Certification or ability to obtain within first 6 months of employment.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to work 40 hours per week or more if required
• Ability to lift and/or carry up to 50 lbs. unassisted
• Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, crawl, climb, kneel, balance, push, pull and reach over head
  
  Must be able to constantly move about on your feet
• Climb ladders (all types)
• Complete overhead work for full day assignments
• Must be able to make transition from employee parking area or street into construction work areas and to gain access to all levels of the construction site, even if the only means of access is by OSHA approved site construction ladders or stairs still under construction but acceptable for use
• Responsible for securing tools and materials from storage areas to complete their assigned task
