The Emergency Vehicle Technician Supervisor is part of this team dedicated to providing service solutions that exceed our customers' expectations. With a specialized fleet of emergency response vehicles, the Tucson Fire Department provides the latest technologies, training, and industry certification opportunities to keep the fleet management team and the fleet at the forefront of the industry.
The Emergency Vehicle Technician Supervisor plans, coordinates and supervises the daily activities and work assignments of the technicians and staff involved in the repair and maintenance of the Fire Department's apparatus, ambulances and support equipment. Workflow is based on Tucson Fire Department policies, manufacturer requirements, and applicable NFPA standards.
Skill Based Pay/Certifications and expected timeline:The Emergency Vehicle Technician Supervisor classification is included in a skill-based pay plan which provides compensation for achieving and maintaining 30 ASE and EVT certifications required for this position as listed below. ASE and EVT certification fees are paid for by the department with a passing score. Employees in this classification are required to progress through the levels of certification in a consecutive manner as listed below.

About this jobPosition Specific Summary The Emergency Vehicle Technician Supervisor at the City of Tucson's Fire Department supervises personnel in the maintenance, repair, and modification of emergency response vehicles and their components in a busy and fluid environment. Work is performed under the supervision of the Emergency Vehicle Fleet Superintendent. This position exercises supervision over division personnel.
Duties and Responsibilities- Supervises, schedules, and evaluates repair and maintenance tasks for multiple employees on an assigned shift.
- Sets priorities, monitors workflow, conducts quality inspections, and assesses equipment performance.
- Coordinates statutory inspections, facilitates safety meetings, and oversees safety-related activities.
- Leads daily meetings to review workflows.
- Provides safety training and instruction on new vehicle technologies for efficient and safe maintenance and repairs.
- Manages weekly on-call schedules to ensure after-hours vehicle availability.
- Prepares preventive maintenance and fleet status reports using various programs.
- Manages work orders, including opening, closing, and assigning tasks based on customer requests.
- Ensures work area cleanliness, addresses safety concerns, and manages vehicle recalls.
- Schedules and assigns preventive maintenance, inspections, and repairs for vehicles and equipment.
