The Irrigation Specialist II is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting campus irrigation systems. This position performs preventive maintenance and repairs on irrigation infrastructure, including valves, piping, rotors, spray heads, and related system components. The successful candidate will utilize specialized diagnostic equipment to identify and resolve electrical, communication, and operational issues with irrigation systems.

Duties & Responsibilities- Repair and maintain irrigation systems by locating and repairing poly pipe leaks, damaged mainlines, lateral lines, and associated irrigation components such as valves up to 3 inches, PVC piping up to 4 inches, rotors, and spray heads to ensure efficient system operation and water conservation.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose irrigation system failures using specialized diagnostic equipment, including wire tracers, toners, multimeters, and ground fault locators; track irrigation wiring, identify and repair electrical faults, and test computerized and conventional controllers, solenoid valves, irrigation heads, and two-wire irrigation systems.
- Install, repair, and replace irrigation valves, including manual and automatic control valves, ensuring proper system pressure, flow, and zone operation.
- Perform mainline repairs and modifications, including excavation, pipe replacement, and system restoration using trenchers, tractors, hand tools, and other specialized irrigation equipment.
- Locate, mark, and blue stake irrigation wiring and underground system components to support safe excavation, maintenance activities, and new irrigation installations.
- Skill in using specialized diagnostic equipment, including toners, multimeters, wire locators, and ground fault locators to identify and resolve irrigation system issues.
- Knowledge of proper PVC solvent welding techniques for the installation and repair of irrigation piping systems.
- Experience assembling, repairing, and installing copper pipe assembly.
- Ability to diagnose irrigation system failures and implement effective repair solutions.
- Ability to read and interpret irrigation plans, wiring diagrams, and technical specifications.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to work in outdoor conditions, including extreme heat.

Minimum Qualifications- High school diploma or high school diploma equivalency is required.
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Must have a valid driver's license and ability to drive according to the University Fleet Safety Policy
