How Will You Make An Impact In This Role?

  • You will play a critical role in fostering a safe, inclusive, trauma-informed, and student-centered school environment while advancing the organization's mission of empowering students and families to achieve success both in and beyond the classroom.
  • You will support the academic, behavioral, attendance, and social-emotional success of students by providing comprehensive school social work services within a community charter school setting.
  • You will utilize a data-informed approach to identify and support students experiencing barriers to learning and school engagement, with a focus on those demonstrating the greatest academic, behavioral, attendance, and social-emotional needs.
  • You will collaborate with students, families, school staff, and community partners to develop and implement interventions that promote student well-being, improve school attendance and engagement, and support positive educational outcomes.
  • Services include individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, case management, family outreach and engagement, attendance support, and coordination of community-based resources.

This position will support both of our schools - Toltecalli and Envision. You will work onsite at Toltecalli on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and at Envision on Tuesday and Thursday.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position does not typically supervise staff but may provide guidance to interns, student teachers, or volunteers as assigned.

  • Strong cultural competency and experience working with diverse, multilingual, and underserved populations
  • Ability to navigate complex family systems and community resources
  • Knowledge of MTSS, PBIS, and/or Special Education processes
Minimum Qualifications And Competencies

Education/Background:

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work (MSW) required.
  • Valid Arizona Department of Education (ADE) School Social Worker Certificate required.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of direct experience working with children, youth, or families in a school or community-based setting.
  • Experience in crisis intervention, case management, attendance improvement initiatives, and school-based services preferred.
  • Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, including MTSS, special education, and student support services preferred.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) highly preferred.
  • This position requires driving on behalf of the company. Candidates must hold a valid driver’s license, meet the company’s motor vehicle record (MVR) standards, meet company’s insurance eligibility, and comply with all state and federal driving requirements. Ongoing employment is contingent upon maintaining an acceptable driving record.
Other Requirements
  • Knowledge of child and adolescent development, trauma-informed practices, and social-emotional learning.
  • Ability to conduct assessments, provide counseling services, and implement intervention plans.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and family engagement skills.
  • Knowledge of community resources and ability to coordinate referrals and support services.
  • Ability to maintain confidential records and comply with FERPA, IDEA, and other applicable regulations.
  • Employment in this position is contingent upon successful completion of all required pre‑employment screenings and subject to credentialing checks to maintain compliance with licensing and contractual requirements.
    • Fingerprint-based background check in accordance with federal, state, and contract requirements.
    • Child Abuse and Neglect Registry Check (CPS check) as required for roles working with vulnerable populations.
    • Criminal history background check meeting applicable state, federal, licensing, or program standards.
    • Candidates may also be required to complete additional screenings or provide documentation as necessary to comply with funding, licensing, contractual, or regulatory obligations.
