THIS IS A GRANT-FUNDED POSITION ENDING SEPTEMBER 2029.
The Pima County Health Department, Women Infants and Children (WIC) program, is looking for an individual with breastfeeding experience that is enthusiastic about breastfeeding and wants to help other mothers enjoy a positive experience. Duties for this part‑time position include providing basic breastfeeding information and support to new mothers, maintaining assigned caseload, keeping accurate records of all contacts, and referring mothers to other services according to established protocols.

- Assists in organizing program activities, timelines, and resources to ensure smooth program execution.
- Works collaboratively with program staff to carry out program objectives and deliverables.
- Provides support in tracking program progress and maintaining documentation.
- Participates in community outreach efforts and engagement activities to gather input to understand the needs of the community.
- Supports the organization and facilitation of community meetings, workshops, and events.
- Maintains program documentation, including progress reports, meeting minutes, and correspondence.
- Provides administrative support to program managers and coordinators, including scheduling meetings, managing calendars, and preparing materials.
- Handles routine administrative tasks as required.
- Stays informed about public health best practices and trends through ongoing learning and training opportunities.
- Seeks opportunities for professional growth within the public health field.
High School diploma or GED equivalent AND one year of experience in the Public Health program related field. (Relevant experience and/or education from an accredited college or university may be substituted.)
Preferred Qualifications- Minimum three (3) months of experience providing breastfeeding consultation.
- Experience with computer software, including Microsoft Office Suite, and data entry.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish).
The Pima County Human Resources Department reserves the right to admit to the selection process only those candidates that meet the minimum qualifications. All applications will be assessed based on an evaluation of the listed education and experience. Candidates meeting the minimum qualifications may be further evaluated or scored against any advertised Preferred Qualifications. The hiring authority will interview and select the successful candidate from a referral list provided by Human Resources.
Additional assessments/testing may be required as part of the selection process.
- Valid driver license is required at the time of application and at the time of appointment. A valid AZ driver license is required. The successful applicant will be subject to a 39‑month DOT Motor Vehicle Record review to determine suitability to operate county vehicles.
- License and certification requirements: failure to obtain and maintain the required licenses and certifications shall be grounds for termination. Offer of employment is contingent upon Fleet Services’ review and approval of the candidate’s driving record.
- Pre‑employment background checks:
Successful candidates will receive a post‑offer, pre‑employment background screening to include verification of work history, education, and criminal conviction history. A prior criminal conviction will not automatically disqualify a candidate. - This position will require post‑job offer proof of immunization(s) or TB screening.
- Physical/Sensory Requirements:
Constantly operates a computer and other office equipment, observes details at close range, remains at a stationary position, moves around office, occasionally travels to other facility locations and events. Requires bending, kneeling, reaching, squatting, stooping, grasping, hearing in noisy areas, speaking in person or by phone, vision to operate a motor vehicle, distinguish colors, depth perception, peripheral vision. - Working Conditions:
Professional office setting, desk‑based tasks, attending meetings. May also operate within a clinic or mobile setting.
