Pay Range is the entire compensation range for the position. THIS IS A GRANT FUNDED POSITION. The Community Workforce Specialist II helps guide youth to achieve the goals they set for themselves.
The successful candidate will take part in a comprehensive youth employment program for serving eligible youth, ages 14-24, who face barriers to education, training, and employment. This position is implemented through the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA). The Community & Workforce Specialist II position reports to the Pima County Youth One-Stop Center, 175 W Irvington Rd, Tucson AZ 85714 and is an 8:00am to 5:00pm (Monday – Friday) position.
Community & Workforce Development Department works with vulnerable populations and minors. A Level one Fingerprint Clearance Card, a Criminal History Self Disclosure Affidavit, and a Central Registry background check are requirements for employment.
- Participates in the day-to-day operational and support activities of a specialized, complex functional program or work unit within the Community & Workforce Development Department;
- Provides direct services urgently and compassionately to Community & Workforce Development clients, which may include working with clients via phone, email, online, or in person, including collaboration with other agencies and organizations to maximize resources and services;
- Assesses the needs of community members and provides guidance on appropriate resources based on individual needs;
- Matches qualified candidates with resources, coaching, or support related to employment, education, or financial assistance;
- Represents the program or work unit at community events and in meetings with County personnel and/or community partners;
- Provides administrative and other support essential to the completion of program or work unit objectives, including mentoring and leading staff and volunteers in specialized program activities;
- Provides input to management in the development of program goals and objectives;
- Manages and maintains accurate records of program participants and their progress;
- Responsible for other duties as assigned in support of the overall goals and functions of both the Community & Workforce Development Department and Pima County.
Associates degree from an accredited college, university or technical school in management, public or business administration or a field related as determined by the department head at the time of recruitment AND one year of professional experience in health, customer service, human services, or a closely related field. OR:
One year of experience with Pima County as a Community and Workforce Specialist I or similar Pima County position, as determined by the department head at the time of recruitment. (Relevant experience and/or education from an accredited college or university may be substituted.) Qualifying education and experience must be clearly documented in the 'Education' and 'Work Experience' sections of the application.
