Principal Software Engineer

Job Summary

Principal Embedded Real‑Time Software Developer/Integrator – Effectors Center of the Software organization, onsite at RTX’s campus in Tucson, AZ.

• Architect, design, implement, test, debug, and deploy integrated embedded real‑time software within heterogeneous firmware and hardware systems.
• Work within a cross‑discipline Integrated Product Team (IPT) to refine product concepts, ensure testability, and guarantee measurable quality.
• Teach, coach, and mentor less experienced staff.
• Contribute to proposals, preliminary and critical design reviews.
• Obtain program access and maintain security clearance requirements.

• Minimum 8 years of relevant experience and a STEM degree or equivalent.
• Experience in at least two of the following:
  Embedded C++ Software, Embedded Software Security, Software Architecture Design and Implementation.
• Proficiency with embedded Real‑Time Operating Systems (RTOS) such as Green Hills, Integrity, Wind River VxWorks, Linux, etc.
• Experience integrating hardware, firmware, and software into complex systems.
• Active, transferrable U.S. Secret security clearance required prior to start.
• Preferred: familiarity with rate‑monotonic theory, layered architectural principles, electrical schematics, firmware source (VHDL/Verilog), assembly language, lab instrumentation, device drivers, and leadership of engineering teams.
