Principal Systems Engineer – Video Processing Team Lead (Naval Power program) – Onsite position located in Tucson, AZ.
Within the Signal Processing Department of the Processing, Guidance & Control Center, the role focuses on designing, integrating, and optimizing video‑processing algorithms for missile system products, leading a team of 8–10 engineers across software, simulation, and algorithms.
Responsibilities• Identify, design, and execute studies to stress and evaluate video‐processing capabilities to inform design refinements and development.
• Lead a multidisciplinary team of 8–10 engineers in software, simulation, and algorithms.
• Define and execute performance studies that ensure new capabilities do not degrade existing system performance.
• Work with embedded software for real‑time video‑processing algorithm development for missile systems.
• Mentor and guide new engineers to accelerate program startup and execution.
• Support missile performance analysis, including model development, system optimization, and Monte‑Carlo assessments.
• Collaborate with the Cross Product Team Lead for scope definition and with program leadership for coordination.
• Act as Product Owner in an Agile environment, refining and grooming the signal‑processing product backlog.
Qualifications – Must Have- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, Physics, Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience.
- Experience with EO/IR signal‑processing algorithm development and/or analysis (e.g., background filtering, temporal filtering, thresholding/segmentation, tracking).
- Experience supporting hardware activities leading to test events, such as calibration and acceptance testing for sensors and devices.
- Programming experience in C/C++, Python, and/or MATLAB.
- Active and transferable Secret U.S. government issued Security Clearance.
- Experience evaluating signal‑processing algorithm/model performance for Naval Power effectors.
- Leadership of a small development team in an Agile environment.
- Development and presentation of technical briefings.
- Support of hardware activities (calibration, acceptance testing) for sensors and devices.
- Support of software performance activities for flight tests using Integrated Flight Simulation and Computer‑in‑Loop analysis.
- Support of missile and captive flight tests with real‑time and post‑mission system performance analysis.
Competitive salary range: $107,500 – $204,500 USD. Eligible for benefits including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short‑term and long‑term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, paid time off, holidays, and additional incentive compensation programs based on position level.
