Principal Software Engineer - Test

Overview

Raytheon’s Test Equipment Engineering (TEE) team, part of the Specialty Engineering Directorate, is looking for a software engineer to design, develop and support advanced windows application solutions for weapon system products. The role is 100% onsite at the Tucson, AZ location (805 ~ 1151 E Hermans Rd, BLDG 805). The position requires U.S. citizenship and an active U.S. government‑issued secret security clearance prior to start date.

• Design, develop and integrate object‑oriented software applications using C#, C++, in Microsoft Visual Studio on Windows operating systems.
• Prioritize and handle multiple software engineering tasks concurrently.
• Troubleshoot software and test equipment instrumentation.
• Work in a multidisciplinary engineering team environment.
• Develop and derive requirements for software products.
• Lead and mentor junior software engineers.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years experience.
• Experience developing and integrating software applications in languages such as C++, C#, Java, Python or Visual Basic.
• Proficient with integrated development environments and debugging tools in Windows and Microsoft Visual Studio.
• Experience with laboratory test instrumentation, electronics, and software (oscilloscopes, power supplies, digital multimeters).
• U.S. citizenship and an active, transferable U.S. government‑issued security clearance.

• Experience with computer architecture and hardware optimization techniques.
• Developing software drivers for hardware interfaces.
• Knowledge of computer hardware interface protocols such as TCP/IP, UDP, or RS‑422.
• Familiarity with UML for visualizing software architecture.
• Experience in software development life cycles (Waterfall, Agile).
• Experience with configuration management principles and tools (Microsoft Azure Dev Ops Server or Git Hub).
• Strong written and interpersonal communication skills.
• Experience leading technical teams or projects.
