Position: AMRAAM Software Integrated Product Team Lead (IPTL)

Principal Engineer – Software Integrated Product Team Lead

ASDS SBU Engineering Execution Team seeks a Principal Engineer to lead embedded software integration for the AMRAAM® development program in Tucson, AZ. The role entails strategic and technical leadership, overseeing the Embedded Software Product Team and serving as Control Account Manager (CAM) for the software IPT.

What You Will Do
  • Provide software leadership and support the Product Owners of two software product areas, ensuring alignment of backlogs with program objectives.
  • Serve as CAM, accountable for planning, budgeting, earned value performance, forecasting, and variance management across all software efforts.
  • Prepare Basis of Estimates (BOEs) for new business capture and contribute to strategic growth opportunities.
  • Prepare and present review materials for major milestone events (IDR, CTT, TRR, TRB, CTS).
  • Develop and execute software strategies to meet cost and schedule objectives while proactively identifying and mitigating program risks.
  • Collaborate across program leadership, SMEs, and IPTs to align priorities, technical execution, and risk reduction.
  • Innovate and implement process improvements to reduce cost, enhance efficiency, and strengthen team performance.
  • Teach, coach, and mentor less experienced staff to build technical depth and leadership capability.
  • Recognize and celebrate team achievements to foster a positive, high‑performance culture.
Qualifications – You Must Have
  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and at least 8 years of relevant experience.
  • Technical leadership experience on embedded software development using Agile.
  • Experience in a team leadership role with IPTL/CAM responsibilities.
  • Experience developing complex systems involving hardware and software integration.
  • Experience with at least two of the following:
    Embedded C++ Software, Embedded Software Security, Software Architecture Design & Implementation, Software Integration & Qualification.
  • Experience using embedded Real Time Operating Systems (RTOS) such as Green Hills, Integrity, Wind River VxWorks, Linux.
  • Active Secret U.S. government‑issued security clearance required before start date.
  • U.S. citizenship required for security clearance.
Qualifications – We Prefer
  • Strong understanding of software development, integration, and verification processes.
  • Experience leading teams through every phase of the software development life cycle.
  • Experience with program management tools:
    Integrated Master Plan (IMP), Integrated Master Schedule (IMS), Baseline Change Requests (BCR), Risk and Opportunity Management systems.
  • Experience with budgeting, scheduling, Estimate at Complete (EAC) processes, and financial performance reporting.
  • Experience with proposal capture, contract processes, SOW preparation, contract startup and close‑out.
  • EVMS certification, Program Management certification, or equivalent to Raytheon PM Level 6 certification.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, able to influence and present plans to leadership and stakeholders.
Security & Clearance Requirements

Active, transferable Secret U.S. government‑issued security clearance required on day
1. U.S. citizenship is mandatory, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
